Counselling with Zana

Working ethically

I attained my Diploma of Higher Education in Counselling (level 5) with Distinction in 2010, which qualified me to practise as a Counsellor. I have been working in private practice ever since.

Professional Membership

I am an accredited member of NCS (National Counselling Society) and as such am listed on the Professional Standards Authority Accredited Register. I adhere to the NCS code of ethical practice.

Counselling sessions are normally confidential. Counsellors are obliged to break this confidentiality in certain situations, for example where I believe you or another adult or child might be at risk of serious harm. I would always aim to speak to you first before sharing information with another, except in an emergency.

It is considered good practice for all counsellors to attend regular supervision sessions to talk about and seek guidance and greater clarity about their work. During supervision, clients are never identified by their full name and no client contact details are shared. Supervision assists and supports me to work professionally with you so that you benefit as much as possible from the counselling process. Supervisors are also bound by a code of ethics from their chosen professional body and  have the same obligations to protect confidentiality and clients’ identities as I do.
